Abraham Lincoln Accelerated Learning Academy embraces an environment where all children are challenged to achieve high academic standards through authentic learning experiences that value student choices and interests. We are committed to providing a safe, friendly atmosphere that fosters relationships built on mutual respect. All stakeholders strive to build positive relationships through open communication, collaborative problem solving and shared decision making.
It is my pleasure to welcome you to Abraham Lincoln Accelerated Learning Academy!
As educational leaders, our staff understands the awesome responsibility we have to the students, parents and community we serve. We are committed to creating an environment that promotes student achievement and academic excellence, encourages shared decision making, and welcomes parent and community involvement.
The mission of Abraham Lincoln Accelerated Learning Academy is to accelerate the learning of all students through data-driven inquiry, reflective teaching and powerful learning experiences. We are committed to helping all students reach their fullest potential by focusing on their strengths as learners, challenging them at appropriate levels, recognizing their unique needs, and supporting them in learning areas that are a challenge for them.
We are proud to be affiliated with the National Center for Accelerated Schools Plus at the University of Connecticut. The Accelerated School Plus model is specifically designed to enhance classroom instruction for all students through the use of enrichment activities, hands-on experiences, active learning, problem solving and independent research. In accelerated schools, the best of what we know about education, that which is usually reserved for gifted and talented students, is shared with all students. Members of the school community work together to transform every classroom into a powerful learning environment, where students and teachers are encouraged to achieve at high levels. Accelerated schools seek out, acknowledge, and build upon every child's natural curiosity, encouraging students to construct knowledge through exploration and discovery, and to see connections between school activities and their lives outside the classroom.
At Abraham Lincoln Accelerated Learning Academy, we believe in the importance of parent and community involvement in our schools. Positive parental support of a child and the school has a strong impact on student achievement. Likewise, we realize that community members have numerous strengths that can benefit our students and the quality of learning experiences available in our school. Community involvement not only draws on an extensive network of experiences and resources, it also helps our students make connections between what they learn in the classroom and their experiences outside of school. Abraham Lincoln Accelerated Learning Academy is proud to have formed a business partnership with The Swiss Colony. Through this collaborative partnership, we are able to connect students with skilled professionals to create unique learning experiences.
Parents and community members are an important part of this school and always welcome here. I hope that you will take every opportunity available to be an active participant at Abraham Lincoln Accelerated Learning Academy. Please contact our office at (608) 328-7172 if your are interested in participating in our PTO, school cadres, or volunteer program. With your help, we will continue to provide quality learning experiences for all our students. At Abraham Lincoln Accelerated Learning Academy our goal is to create the kind of school that we would want for our own children.
Sincerely,
Tina Van Meer Principal Abraham Lincoln Accelerated Learning Academy "Where Every Child Has Gifts"
