The School District of Monroe is located in the rolling hills of southern Wisconsin and is in close proximity to Madison, Janesville, and Beloit. Monroe is known for its historic downtown square, friendly people, and festivals and events that celebrate the culture and arts of the area. 

The School District of Monroe serves approximately 2,400 students in grades 4K-12. The District is home to three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. Monroe's schools are known for exceptional academic services, award-winning programs, and championship athletics. The School District of Monroe earned an "Exceeds Expectations" grade on the most recent Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction report card. 

Many schools are successful, but few serve as a model of best practices and innovation. The School District of Monroe has long been considered one of the most innovative, forward-thinking school districts in Wisconsin. Monroe was an early adopter of programs and practices that have since been implemented by countless districts across the state.  Project Lead the Way, Response to Intervention, Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports, universal mental health screenings, virtual classrooms, and 1:1 technology deployments are just a sampling of what has been offered in Monroe.

The community of Monroe has a long history of support, volunteerism, and generosity. Monroe benefits from being a small town of approximately 10,000 people that is centered between a number of urban and progressive communities. The result is a safe, family-oriented community that strives to offer a variety of educational opportunities usually reserved for children in larger cities. The District has developed partnerships with local businesses and agencies which have yielded countless volunteer hours, development of new programs, vocational opportunities, and donations valued in the millions of dollars.
