Monroe Students Recognized with Presidential Academic Achievement Award

The President’s Academic Achievement Awards Program recognizes students who have made a personal commitment to excellence. MHS Senior Ryan Mathiason is one of 16 Boys Basketball players in the State named Elite Academic All-State by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association. Elite honorees are selected by a committee from the group of Seniors recognized for Academic All-State. They represent the best of the best combining all aspects of what it means to be a student-athlete. Congratulations, Ryan!
Eight fifth and sixth-grade students were chosen to represent Monroe in the Pascal Math Meet in Belleville on March 18th, 2024.
Students competed in five rounds of challenging math problems including computation work, mathematical reasoning with algebra, mental math, and team-based problem-solving. Great job to all participants!
Congratulations to the members of the MHS Girls Basketball team who received Academic All-State honors from the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA)! To be eligible for this award, nominated athletes must be varsity players from any grade level and hold a GPA of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale). Congratulations, ladies!
Congratulations to MHS Senior Elsen Gratz who is one of 15,000 Finalists for the National Merit Scholarship. The National Merit Scholarship winners are chosen from this group based on their abilities, skills, and accomplishments and will be notified in March if they are winners. Way to go, Elsen!
Congratulations to Christian Carpenter, a senior at Monroe High School, who was awarded National Bronze in the 2023 James F. Lincoln Arc Welding Awards competition!
Christian entered his welded creation of a Medieval Knight. The knight was a compilation of parts including a tractor piston, saw blades, engine parts, bolts, bearings, and 2 CNC plasma cut parts.
Christian used the skills he acquired in his metals and welding classes at MHS, along with the tools, welders, and equipment in the lab to create his sculpture. A job well done!
Congratulations to MHS Seniors Elsen Gratz and Ruby Sheaffer! Elsen is a Semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program! The nationwide pool of semifinalists represents less than 1% of US high school seniors. Ruby was named a Commended Student in the 2023-2024 National Merit Scholarship program! She is one of 34,000 students nationwide being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Congratulations to both!

Recently, a representative from Equitable Advisors came to Monroe High School to award Taylor Jacobson with a scholarship. Taylor was one of 100 students in the entire country to receive this scholarship. Along with Taylor's award, Mrs. Rudi was nominated by Taylor to win a gift card to use for her classroom and MHS was also awarded $500, which will be used to support our E4E (Equity for Everyone) student group. Mrs. Rudi is an English teacher at MHS and an E4E student group advisor. Congratulations Taylor and Mrs. Rudi!
Congratulations to MHS Senior Clayton Waski who has been named a National Merit Scholar finalist! Clayton plans to attend Rice University after graduation.
Four 2022 MHS graduates were notified recently of honors they received in the James F. Lincoln Awards program: Chris Giasson - Regional Gold, Ashton Kundert - Regional Silver, Urial Avendono - Regional Bronze, Alex Sutter - Regional Bronze. Award recipients receive a monetary award and Regional Gold winners take home a brand-new Lincoln Welder! Congratulations to all!

The MHS Model UN team competed in the 13th annual Model UN conference in December. Over 350 students and 17 schools participated. Morgan Waski represented the Philippines as Miss Philippines in the Miss Universe competition and received "Outstanding Delegate" for her committee work. Great job, Morgan!
Two teams from MHS’s Investment Club competed in the Regional Finance and Investment Challenge Bowl on December 6th. Both teams made it to the Final Four where they competed against each other. One of the teams placed second in the Regional and will be competing at State in May. Congratulations!
The Monroe High School Agriculture department recently received a $2500 grant to purchase a swine litter processing simulator and supply pack. Thank you to the Compeer Financial Agriculture Education and Classroom Equipment Grant Program for helping fund this great addition to our animal sciences classes!
