MHS German Teacher, Alla Schwartz
The American Association of Teachers of German (AATG) recognizes German teachers and programs for their outstanding contributions to the teaching and learning of German in the US. The 2024 award recipients will be recognized at a virtual presentation to be held on November 10, 2024.
Alla Schwartz, Monroe High School German teacher will be recognized with the FL-A-CH Award for excellence in the teaching of the language and cultures of Austria, the German-speaking areas of Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and South Tyrol.
The award is sponsored by the Austrian Cultural Forum, the Embassy of Switzerland, and the Embassy of Liechtenstein. The official press release is attached below.

Congratulations to the members of the Monroe High School LAUNCH team on being recognized as the 2023 Excellence in Education Outstanding Educator Team of the Year! (Jan Douglas, Erin Speth, Emily Bartles, Morgan Roberts, and Karin Carson)
The LAUNCH program was introduced last year with two strands of study - Media Solutions and Data Analytics - and is a collaborative classroom experience for Juniors and Seniors featuring project-based learning to solve real-world problems right here in our community. This year, we've added two new strands - Skilled Building Trades and Behavioral Health. Congratulations to these trailblazing teachers!

Congratulations to Sherri Hendrickson, retired Monroe High School Business teacher, who received a Legacy Award as one of the 2022 Governor's Financial Literacy Award recipients!
"The Legacy Award is given to an organization, business, or individual whose purpose and heritage is ingrained in sustained financial literacy and capability efforts."
Sherri was one of just 9 individuals and 12 organizations honored at the event at the Wisconsin State Capitol in April. Congratulations on this extraordinary honor for a truly extraordinary educator! We are so proud of you!

We are excited to announce that three School District of Monroe educators have been recognized as 2023 Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Teacher Fellows! Brenda Davis is a teacher in our Learning Center at Monroe High School, Leah Houston is a Special Education teacher at Parkside Elementary and works with our Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, and Katherine Lehto is a Science teacher at Monroe High School.
“Education is the key to the future of Wisconsin and our nation,” former U.S. Sen. Herb Kohl said. “These student, teacher, and principal award recipients have demonstrated incredible hard work, achievements, and service. Congratulations to Matt Brown, Monroe Middle School Assistant Principal, on being named the WASC Junior and Middle Administrator of the Year! Each year, the Wisconsin Association of School Councils, Inc. (WASC) recognizes individuals for their outstanding dedication and involvement in WASC. The WASC Junior and Middle (JAM) Administrator of the Year Award is presented to administrators who have shown outstanding support for students in their school and/or throughout the state. Mr. Brown will be recognized during the awards presentation at the WASC State Conference on April 23rd, held at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Congratulations, Mr. Brown!
