The School District of Monroe Board of Education has selected Rodney Figueroa as the next Superintendent to lead our District. During the Board meeting on Monday, May 9th, 2022, the Board of Education approved the contract for Mr. Rodney Figueroa. He will be replacing Mr. Rick Waski, who announced his retirement earlier this year.
Mr. Figueroa is currently the Superintendent of the Pittsville School District where he has served in that role for the last 6 years.
“It is an honor to be welcomed into the School District of Monroe,” said Mr. Figueroa. “Having the opportunity to spend a full day in the schools, meet community members, and interact with the administrative team and Board of Education confirmed the positive information shared from people around the state about Monroe. Watching staff and administration interact with students at each level reflected their dedication to the students and service to the families of Monroe. The community members asked hard, relevant questions and showed their desire to provide teaching and learning environments for students which open as many doors as possible.” He added, “My wife and I are looking forward to becoming members of the community, making new friends, and learning more about all the things which make living and working in Monroe special.”
Mr. Figueroa will spend some time in the District preparing for the transition before officially beginning his duties on July 1st, 2022. The School District of Monroe is excited to welcome Mr. Figueroa to our school community and the community of Monroe.
