The Monroe High School One-Act Play is advancing to the State competition at UW-Milwaukee on Friday, November 22nd. The students have worked hard to create a laugh-out-loud comedy, Bad Auditions by Bad Actors. Congratulations to the cast and crew!

Congratulations to the cast and crew of MHS's "The Addams Family" who have been nominated for 14 Jerry Awards! Of these nominations, our production received five awards and three students performed in the Jerry Awards program at the Overture Center June 9th, 2024.
The Jerry Awards are a program by the Overture Center recognizing excellence in high school musical theatre. For the first time in school history, we received an Outstanding Musical nomination which is the top honor a show can receive!

March is recognized as Youth Art Month, an annual national observance that emphasizes the value of art education for all children and encourages public support for quality art programs.
Several School District of Monroe students will have their artwork on display at the Monroe Clinic and Hospital through May. Several students also had their work on display at East Towne Mall as part of the State Art Show. Congratulations to these talented artists!

Congratulations to MHS Senior Parker Lenzendorf who earned 2 Silver Key Awards at the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards this year! The awards are an annual juried exhibition, which the Milwaukee Art Museum has hosted for the Wisconsin region since 1976, and recognizes excellence in the visual arts.
This year, the Wisconsin competition had 2,574 individual entries. Of those, 211 entries were given special state recognition with a Silver Key. Parker's work is on display now at the Milwaukee Art Museum! Congratulations, Parker!

Congratulations to Northside student Layla Sayles who won Artist of the Week grades 4th-6th on the Artsonia website! During the contest, her artwork received 399 votes from website visitors and was featured on the website. Along with a plaque, Layla will receive a $50 gift certificate for Blick Art Materials and Northside will receive a $100 gift certificate for art materials. Congratulations, Layla, on this amazing national honor!

Congratulations to Alex Gerrits, Hamilton Stites, and Frank Wolf on being selected to participate in the Rock Valley Conference Honors Band. Top band students from every school in the conference were nominated to participate. They spent the day under the direction of the UW Madison Director Professor Scott Teeple and performed a full concert in the evening.

The MHS Forensics team participated in their first tournament of the year on Saturday, January 27 at DeForest High School. They came in 10th place, which was phenomenal for a team of our size and experience!

The 2023 Badger Conference Art Show represents high school artists from the 16 Badger East and West conference schools. Over 160 works of art were displayed for this juried show!

7th and 8th Grade Art Students had their artwork judged by Artist Kathy King to be included in the 2023 Womans Club Helen Mears Art Contest. Students received 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Honorable Mentions. Two students, Paizley Kundert (8th grade) and Fiona Junk (7th Grade) had their art selected to move on to the State Level Competition and both earned 3rd Place at State! Their art will be on display in Oshkosh for the month of July. Congratulations to all of the art students that participated!
