MONROE EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION FUND PRESENTS 2023 GRANTS

The Monroe Excellence In Education Foundation is awarding $36,583.00 for eight deserving projects to enhance educational experiences for Monroe students. Since its inception, twenty years ago, the Foundation has awarded $263,951.00 in grants to Monroe schools and students. The Foundation responds to the need of schools in the Monroe District wanting to start new and innovative programs or extend current services. The Foundation provides the flexibility for addressing changing needs to advance the most promising, creative approaches in the education of our children. Grants from the Foundation have strengthened ties between generations and encouraged community participation in our schools. These grant funds are made available through generous donations in the forms of memorials, gifts honoring an individual, wills and estate planning, stock, real estate or other property transfers as well as participation at our annual fundraiser. Monroe Excellence In Education Foundation is a non-profit organization independent of the school district and the Board of Education. It is a component of the Monroe Fund organized under the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin. This year’s projects include:

• CKLA Engagement Support for all Elementary Schools - Kate Kelley - $4,995 (EIE Spendable & Class of '1977')
• Platform Ladders - MHS Technology Department - Chuck Lynch/Dan Saunders - $560 (Scott Schmidt Excellence in Education Fund)
• Q-ball - Abraham Lincoln Elementary - Alyssa Quinn/Juanita Butler - $1,251 (EIE Endowment, Class of '1949', &  Class of '1977')
• Materials Science Class Kiln - MHS Science Department - Carol Ochsner - $2,500 (EIE Endowment)
• Monroe Physics Renewable Energy Unit - MHS - Mark Dickson - $2,422 (EIE Endowment)
• Virtual Reality Project - We Will Take You There! - Northside - Lisa Demuth - $14,095 (EIE Spendable & Frederick & Helen Rehmstedt Northside Elementary Fund)
• Seed Funding for Skilled Building Trades Workforce Housing Rehabilitation - MHS - Cara Carper - $3,760 (EIE Endowment)
• LAUNCH Printing Solutions - MHS - Cara Carper & Jan Douglas - $7,000 (EIE Endowment)
