Got Your Back — Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 22, 2026 | Last updated: July 22, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Got Your Back mobile application (the “App”) handles information. The App is provided by the School District of Monroe (“we,” “us,” or “the District”). By downloading or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
| Summary: The App does not require an account, and the information you enter is stored only on your own device. We do not operate a server that collects this information, we do not track you, and we do not sell your data. |
| If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911. The App is a support tool and is not a substitute for emergency services or professional care. |
- Information the App uses
The App is designed so that your personal information stays on your device. Depending on the features you choose to use, the App may store the following locally on your phone or tablet:
- Contacts you add — the names and phone numbers you choose to save so you can reach them quickly.
- Information you enter — responses and preferences you provide while using the App’s features.
- Location — your device’s approximate or precise location, used to show nearby services and provide directions. Your most recent location may be saved on your device so features load faster.
- App settings — preferences such as your chosen language, setup progress, agreement to the terms of use, and the scheduling details for any notifications you enable.
This information is stored using your device’s local storage. It is not transmitted to the District or to any third-party server by the App, and it is removed when you delete the App or clear its data.
- What we do not collect
- We do not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide your name or email to use the App.
- We do not use analytics or advertising trackers inside the App.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade any personal information.
- We do not receive or store your contacts, entries, messages, or location on our systems.
- Messaging and calling
Some features let you contact other people or services directly from the App. When you use these features:
- Text messages are sent through your device’s own messaging app and your mobile carrier. The App simply opens a pre-filled message; it does not send messages through, or store them on, any District server.
- Phone calls are placed through your device’s standard phone dialer.
- Standard message and data rates from your carrier may apply. Your carrier’s handling of calls and texts is governed by its own privacy policy.
- Device permissions
The App may ask your permission to use certain device features. You are always in control and can change these permissions in your device settings. The App requests permissions only to enable specific features:
- Location — to find and map nearby services.
- SMS / Messaging — to help you send a pre-filled text message.
- Notifications and scheduled reminders — to deliver messages and optional reminders that are scheduled on your device.
- Camera and microphone — if used by a feature that lets you capture a photo or video; any media you create stays on your device unless you choose to share it.
- Storage — to save the App’s content and your entries on your device.
Declining a permission may turn off the related feature but will not prevent you from using the rest of the App.
- Third-party services
Some features use Google Maps Platform to display maps and provide directions. When you use those features, Google may process your location and map requests in accordance with Google’s own privacy policy. Aside from mapping, the App does not integrate third-party advertising, analytics, or social-media tracking services.
- Children’s privacy
The App is available to users of all ages, including children under 13. Because of the way the App is built, it does not knowingly collect personal information from any user — child or adult — onto our servers. Any information a user enters remains on that user’s own device and is not sent to or accessible by the District through the App.
We encourage parents, guardians, and staff to help younger users set up and use the App. If you are a parent or guardian and have questions about your child’s use of the App, please contact us using the information below. Because the App does not transmit personal information to us, information is deleted directly on the device by editing entries within the App or by uninstalling the App.
- How to delete your information
Because your information lives on your device, you control it directly. You can edit or remove your entries within the App at any time, and you can remove all App data by uninstalling the App or clearing its storage in your device settings.
- Data security
Your information is protected by the security features of your own device, such as your screen lock and device encryption. Keeping your device secure — for example, with a passcode or biometric lock — is the best way to protect the information you store in the App.
- Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide notice within the App or on our website. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
